This week: Rendezvous

This week we enter into one of Pinedale’s biggest festivals – the Green River Rendezvous.  As I mentioned on Sunday morning, I believe that this festival sheds light on some of God’s divine purposes for our community, purposes that I believe still remain on His heart.  It is no exaggeration to say that Sublette County has had a national impact for over 180 years.  From the renowned beaver hat, to railroad ties that carried thousands back and forth across the country, and now to the natural gas and its extracts that fuel our nation.  For those of us who live in the small town, we know just how eclectic this community truly is.

Besides the normal activity of our church to share the love of Christ to our neighbors and now our visitors, there are several activities we’ll need help for that extra push.

1.  Intercessory prayer on Wednesday at 7pm.  We have set this time apart for prayer for over a year now, combining prayer with fasting for our community and for His Kingdom to come.  We fully believe that the beginning of all revivals is with the movement of God upon the hearts and souls of men.  God has given us the special privilege to partner with Him in building His kingdom, but it is “not by might, nor by power, but by My Spirit says the Lord” that advances the Kingdom of God.

2.  The Rendezvous Parade on Saturday at 11am.  We will be having a float in the parade celebrating the Christian influence within our community clear back to the first Protestant missionaries who came out.  The spiritual history and influence of these men and women is noteworthy and is often overlooked in the excitement of the mountain men, Indians, and the intrigue and partying.  We specifically do not advertise our church on the float, this float if for all Christians of our community and we hope that we can have a large number who will walk with us and publicly stand for Christ and the unity of His body here.  There are two very important things that we need –

We need you and all of your friends with us in the parade.

and

Lots of candy to hand out to the children on the parade route.

3.  Vacation Bible School.  From July 15-19, we will be sponsoring a vacation Bible school in conjunction with Child Evangelism Fellowship of Wyoming.  There will be two classes:

Elementary to 5th Grade from 1:00pm – 3:00pm

6th – 8th Grade from 4:30pm – 6:00pm

Saddle RangeRemember that the most effective method to get people and, in this case, kids is to personally invite them and even offer a ride if they need it.
